The women’s and children’s homeless shelter on North Broad will be opening very soon!

Following a fundraising campaign that resulted in an incredible outpouring of support, the Davies Shelters purchased the historic house at 2007 North Broad Street in May 2018. Since then, over 600 volunteers have helped with renovations.

Volunteers have scraped wallpaper, removed carpet, and installed drywall. You have sorted books, planted and pruned plants, reset bricks, and painted walls. You have donated so much furniture and books and toys and everyday essentials.

In January, we hit a snag. We expected to open, but at our last fire inspection were told we needed to add a sprinkler system. Again, this community made it happen. The sprinkler installation is so very nearly complete. Once completed, we await a final fire and building inspection then expect to open to guests!
