WHAT WE DO
At The Davies Shelters, we provide more than just shelter—we offer a pathway to stability and hope. Our programs are built on the belief that everyone has sacred worth, is on a restorative journey, and deserves to be welcomed with dignity and compassion. Through safe emergency housing, personalized case management, professional counseling, and community partnerships, we address the root causes of homelessness. Whether it’s job loss, mental health challenges, or housing barriers, we walk alongside our guests as they take meaningful steps toward lasting stability.

This commitment to stability gives individuals the time and space they need to heal, grow, and begin building a sustainable future.

CASE MANAGEMENT
At The Davies Shelters, every guest is paired with a dedicated Case Manager who helps chart a personalized path toward independent living. Together, they set meaningful goals and develop a step-by-step plan to achieve them. Through weekly one-on-one meetings, Case Managers provide encouragement, track progress, and connect guests with essential resources and community partners—ensuring each person has the support they need to move forward with confidence and purpose.
With the right resources and person-centered care, guests and Case Managers work together to prepare for a successful transition back into the community. This includes searching for housing, creating a budget, and gathering essentials for independent living. Guests also learn to navigate local bus routes and gain practical tools to support the long-term change they’re working toward.
COUNSELING
Homelessness is not just a housing crisis—it’s a deeply traumatic experience. More than 65% of our guests face mental health challenges. That’s why we offer in-house counseling services to both current and former guests. These sessions help guests discover new paths toward personal growth and emotional well-being. Because lasting change begins from the inside out.
Therapy approaches are tailored to each person’s needs—ranging from short-term support to longer-term psychotherapy. Session frequency is flexible and may vary from once a month to twice a week, depending on individual goals.

Davies also offers counseling services to a limited number of clients from the broader community. Sessions are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis, with a minimum fee of $55 per session. Please note that The Davies Shelter does not accept third-party payments.

"Good Faith Estimate"
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
- Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
- Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
DAVIES FARM & GARDEN
Housing and food insecurity often go hand in hand, forcing many in our community to make impossible choices. In response, we expanded our community garden and launched a mobile farmers market in 2019. This program brings fresh produce, job opportunities, and educational outreach to low-income, low-access neighborhoods—nourishing both individuals and the community as a whole.
In 2019, we expanded our growing efforts from the community garden behind the Men’s Shelter to a 2-acre farm in South Rome. Together, the Campbell-Rife Community Garden and the Davies Farm at South Meadows provide fresh, healthy produce that supports meals at both shelters and stocks our Farm Bus.
Led by Farm Manager Brad Swancy, a dedicated team of Berry Bonner Scholars and volunteers tends the land, helping us grow enough to nourish our guests and bring affordable produce to neighborhoods through weekly Farm Bus stops from May to October
BUS FARE
Too many people in our community struggle to afford both food and housing. For too many, that means choosing one basic need over the other. Bus Fare is a powerful cooperative partnership between The Davies Shelters, The Community Kitchen, and Fork Spoon and Plate to bring food and resources directly to the community. Join us every Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, starting at Noon, for: Hot meals, Snacks, & Other resources to support our neighbors. When food insecurity and housing insecurity collide, too many are forced to choose between a roof and a meal. Together, we’re creating a welcoming community where no one has to make that choice.
We Can’t Do It Without YOU!
